Synetiq, an IAA company and one of the leading vehicle salvage and recycling businesses in the UK, has recently taken delivery of seven new DAF LF 12-ton double deck recovery trucks from MV Commercial. The aim of this fleet renewal project is to improve the efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint of SYNETIQ’s nationwide operations.
The new recovery trucks are designed to transport three cars at once and will be used to collect salvage vehicles for the insurance industry from garages or policy holders’ addresses. The vehicles come equipped with tilt and slide bodies and spec lifts, making them ideal for SYNETIQ’s operations. The trucks arrived at SYNETIQ’s head office
in Doncaster as part of a fleet renewal project, with the final two joining the fleet late in 2022.
These new trucks will be based at SYNETIQ’s depots in Winsford, St. Albans, Gloucester, and east London, joining a mixed fleet of 110 salvage recovery vehicles that ranges from 44-tonne artics to 3.5-tonne transit vans. The recovery units are expected to clock up more than 60,000 km per year, making them a crucial part of SYNETIQ’s operations.
According to Mike Griffiths, Head of Transport at SYNETIQ, “We needed to expand our fleet as part of the company’s growth strategy and these DAF trucks from MV Commercial are a great addition. They enable us to access areas of the UK that our 26-tonne vehicles can’t, such as parts of Wales and other remote locations that are difficult to reach. The new 12-tonne recovery trucks are really improving the effectiveness of our operations and driving
Griffiths also praised MV Commercial for their excellent service and communication during the fleet expansion program. “Hats off to MV Commercial for supporting SYNETIQ’s drive towards greater efficiencies and also helping us reduce our carbon footprint. We’re very happy with MV Commercial. The deal was competitive and the vehicles were available. Their service and communication has been excellent and made our fleet expansion program much easier to manage.”
The acquisition of these new recovery trucks marks the first time that SYNETIQ has worked with MV Commercial. The company’s investment in these vehicles will bring numerous benefits, including improved efficiency and a reduction in their carbon footprint. It will also help SYNETIQ to access difficult-to-reach areas of the UK, enabling the company to better serve its clients and achieve its growth objectives.

MD Aggregate Supplies, a specialist in the aggregate and concrete industry, has recently acquired four Scania P450s with Thompson tipper bodies from MV Commercial. What sets this acquisition apart is that MV Commercial was able to deliver the tippers in a record time of just three months, while other suppliers had told Transport Manager Mike Weatherall that it would take at least 12 months for delivery.
Weatherall expressed his satisfaction with MV Commercial, saying that they had “delivered everything they promised” and that the timely delivery of the tippers had helped in the update of the company’s fleet.
The new tippers will join seven other vehicles in the MD Aggregate Supplies fleet and will be used to transport different types of materials across Shropshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire and Wales. The vehicles are expected to cover 80,000 km per year and come with a range of safety features, including a PM onboard weighing system, two front and rear strobe lights, two LED work lights at the rear and all-round recording cameras.
The tippers are also equipped with Scania’s 450 horsepower engines, which are necessary for the steep terrain in some of the areas where the company operates, such as around the quarries in North Wales.
Weatherall said that the powerful engines “make light work” of carrying full payloads up hilly areas. He also mentioned that the fuel efficiency of the vehicles was impressive and that the drivers loved them.
The vehicles were acquired on a full-service threeyear contract hire agreement, which includes regular maintenance and servicing. This allows the company to focus on its core business without having to worry about the maintenance of the tippers.
Weatherall revealed plans to do more business with MV Commercial in 2023, citing the excellent customer service he received and the high-specs of the tippers. He said that the drivers were very pleased with the vehicles and that they had been a valuable addition to the fleet.
In conclusion, the timely delivery of the tippers and the high-specs of the vehicles have made MV Commercial a valuable partner for MD Aggregate Supplies. With the addition of the four Scania P450s with Thompson tipper bodies, the company can continue to serve its customers with high-quality products and services while staying on top of the latest industry trends and standards.

Tom Grant Plant, a local Ayrshire-based company that provides plant hire, operating plant equipment and transport hire services, has recently added two new pink and blue Volvo FMX 420 tipper grabs from MV Commercial to its fleet, which are already proving to be a hit with customers.
According to Tom Grant Plant Transport Manager Andy Glover, “The blue tipper grab is working on a utilities contract, while the pink one is causing a bit of a stir doing more private work, such as moving materials for gardens and driveways. It’s grabbing attention wherever it goes and is definitely generating more business for us. We get phone calls from people who have spotted the pink vehicle asking if they can use it for various projects.”
Tom Grant Plant has traditionally run its fleet in blue livery, but a few years ago the company decided to add a pink Scania tipper grab as part of a campaign to raise money for Breast Cancer Now. The truck received a lot of attention and later on the company added a pink excavator as
well. Glover says, “It’s a bit of gimmick but it’s worked well for us and raised money for a great cause.”
This deal marks the first time the company has added Volvos to its fleet in more than 18 years of business. The tipper grabs are equipped with a fourway camera system and additional lights and flashing beacons and are expected to cover up to 90,000km per year.
The addition of these new tipper grabs also strengthens Tom Grant Plant’s relationship with MV Commercial, as the company received several specialist vehicles from the Airdrie-based company a few years ago. Glover said, “MV has always done a great job for us. The pricing was competitive and it was able to supply the tipper grabs we needed much quicker than anyone else.”
A company spokesperson said “The Volvo FMX tipper grab is a powerful and versatile vehicle that is well-suited for a wide range of construction and transport applications. One of the key
benefits of this vehicle is its exceptional durability and reliability, thanks to its robust construction and advanced engineering.
The Volvo FMX is built to withstand the rigors of heavy use, making it a great choice for companies that need a dependable workhorse in their fleet. The Thompson Loadmaster body is designed to maximize payload capacity and efficiency, with features such as an advanced load distribution system and a low center of gravity.”
Overall, the new pink and blue Volvo FMX 420 tipper grabs are not only unique and eye-catching, but they’re also helping the company win new business and strengthen relationships with suppliers.
